Hi.

The other day a middle-aged recreational jogger was putzing around on FB, told a story to amuse herself, and "they" said she should blog, so she did. This is what you find here.

Greetings, friends, from around the world! (My AU and WCG friends will get that). If you WANT to get that reference, check out a podcast called Worldwide: The Unchosen Church.

  • Anyway, despite my best hopes and efforts, the fence saga continues. Can you believe it? But it has a great ending, I think. I won’t know until I get the check.

My doorbell rang the other day, and my neighbor Misty was standing out there with a gentleman I didn’t recognize.

“This is Ramesh,” Misty said. “He’s the landlord of the house behind yours. You know, the one with the dog who ate your fence?”

“Ah yes…Ramesh, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” I purred. Anyway, Ramesh and I had a nice talk — this was after Misty had already warmed him up — and after texting back and forth over the next few days — texts resplendent with pictures of my poor, mutiliated fence — he agreed to pay for half! I think what finally made him feel sorry for me was when I said, “Ramesh, this <amount of money> cuts into your profit, but it cut into my savings.” I shame myself with my emotional manipulation, but at the same time, I’m not above it.

  • Lolly, the nine-week-old Westie puppy I’ve been fostering for the last week, has been adopted! Guys, I am not cut out for a puppy any longer. I’m simply too old. My dogs are too old too. She threw the house into chaos, and on her penultimate day, Piper threw up and Lolly rolled in it. On her last day, she had diarrhea in my shag carpet. I have a hair-trigger gag reflex, so those two incidents have cured me of EVER wanting a puppy again.

  • That being said, I am plowing ahead with my hope to host an international exchange student. I guess my mothering instincts are not completely dead. I am excited beyond words. I’m making a list of places to take her to visit, including Babe’s Chicken House. I’m planning to paint the walls and refinish my guest bedroom furniture so she has a beautiful room. I realize that this will totally change my life, but I’m all over it. If you pray, please pray that this comes to fruition. I am still going through the approval process and background check. I’m hoping my cat burglar career doesn’t catch up to me. TOTALLY KIDDING. I’ve never so much as had a speeding ticket, truly.

My dream bedroom.

  • My company has updated their hybird work policy to be that we must be in the office three days per week. I am surprisingly for it. Turns out, I need people to be happy. Coming from a confirmed introvert, this is a big deal. But now I’ve got to buy more pants.

  • Other than that, all is going well at Chez Shasta. I am still fat, out of shape and cynical. If one of those things changes, I will let you guys know.
